The gateway to East Kalimantan and one of the gateway to "Borneo Rainforest." Balikpapan is located between 1'LS-1, 5'LS and 116.5 'E-117'BT. Consisted of 5 District, bordering the city of Samarinda, Kutai Kartanegara, the Strait of Makassar, and Regency Sand. The total area of approximately 503,306 km2. Tourist Attraction

1. MONPERA( MONUMEN PERJUANGAN RAKYAT)



This monument is located in the center exactly on Jl. General Sudirman exactly in front of the headquarters office KODAM VI Tanjung Pura. This monument describes the Indonesian people's struggle and courage in fighting the invaders.




2. Melawai Beach

The beach is on Jl. Jend. Sudirman close Tukung Island, a place where the traders sell a variety of cuisine - a delicious drink with a relatively cheap price. Visitors can sit down relax, dine on the mat while enjoying the waves and see the sailing ships, as well as being anchored in the harbor unloading Semayang sea. This location is open starting at 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m..



3. Manggar Segarasari Beach
The beach with an area of 13,000 m2 with a crystal clear sea water, small ripples of waves and white sand, is a comfortable place for those who want to play, sailing and beach volley. This place opened to the public starting at 06:00 to 18:00, can be reached by private or public vehicle number 7. The location of this beach are in Manggar and Teritip with a distance of 9 km from Airport Sepinggan or 22 km from the center of Balikpapan.


 4. Agrowisata KM. 23 Balikpapan

This park was inaugurated on December 17, 1997 by former Vice President Tri Sutrisno. With an area of 100ha, is located on Jl. Soekarno Hatta Km. 23. In this park visitors can enjoy the kinds of tropical plants. Besides, there are resting or picnic with facilities such as: House Length (Lamin), which is open to the shelter with Dayak ornaments, a place to camp with the natural scenery and Play Ground. This place opened to the public every day and can be visited by using the two-wheeled vehicle mapun four wheels, there are also no public transportation route number 8



5. Hutan Lindung Sungai Wain

Sungai Wain Protected Forest is one of the forest defined by the Central Government as Protection Forest with a total area of 10,025 ha. Sungai Wain along the 18,300 m with clear water, on the left right there is a row of mangroves. Animal habitats contained in Sungai Wain Protection Forest ranging from fish, crabs, birds, monkeys, orangutans and so forth. Use of this river as well as a source of clean water for Housing and Pertamina Oil Refinery in the city of Balikpapan.
